Our Art department is a lively, exciting, and invigorating place where pupils experience a wide range of media and materials through a curriculum that is fun, fresh and stimulating.

We believe that developing sound drawing and painting skills underpins successful development in Art. Of equal importance is the exposure of children to a wide range of media and creative experiences.

Children of all year groups have weekly Art lessons in a specialist classroom and undertake a variety of projects ranging from making papier mache war masks to creating multi-media modern day icon portraits. The school also has its own kiln and the children produce a wide range of ceramic art. We recognise the importance of forging links with other subject areas. Children have regular access to a fully equipped ICT suite where they use computers and digital cameras to collect images, undertake animation projects and gather research.

We have recently worked with the National Gallery where children’s work has been on display and have been recognised with the award of the Artsmark Gold Award.
