Good communication is of paramount importance.
The most effective education takes place when there is a strong partnership between parents and teachers. Kew Green Preparatory School has an open-door approach to its relationship with parents. Our class teachers are always available for consultation and we positively encourage our parents to be part of the school's life, whether this means assisting with school theatrical productions, accompanying pupils on sports trips or coming in to hear children read.
The most important channel for communication is the child's class teacher who should be consulted first regarding any problem. Consultations can also be held with members of our Senior Management Team and the Headmistress is available by appointment. The elected Parent Governor can be contacted directly or via the Parent Class Representative. It is essential that the Headmistress be informed if there are problems at home.
Class teachers report verbally on pupil progress at parent interviews in the autumn and spring terms. In the summer term a detailed written report is posted prior to parent interviews. At the end of the academic year there is an Upper School Prize Day where pupils may be publicly commended for achievement and effort. "Kewlife", our school newsletter, is distributed by post and published on this website each half-term. This is the main way in which general information about school life is disseminated.
